Polar Bear and the Boy
I am currently collaborating with theatre company And Many Others to develop their new family show. Provisionally titled Polar Bear and the Boy, the piece is a heartwarming yet timely story about a polar bear and a refugee boy who, having both been displaced from their homes, form an unlikely friendship and travel across Europe in a bid to find their lost families. Part fairy-tale and part political allegory, Polar Bear and the Boy aims to draw younger audiences into a magical world whilst encouraging them to think in a new way about issues such as climate change, migration, similarity and difference. We workshopped the piece during a residency at Greenwich Theatre in September 2018 and are now looking forward to the next stage in its life.
Writer Cressida Peever, director Celine Lowenthal and I have joined forces to develop Send Nudes, Cressida's new play tackling pornography and sexual culture amongst teenagers. We enjoyed a productive week of R&D at The Space in October 2018 and Cressida is now busy redrafting. Stay tuned for updates!
